PrecisCx served for the second year as a 2023 Visionary Sponsor for the Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology (GETT) Expo. On Saturday, 28 October 2023, girls in grades 5-10 came out to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center to explore hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Girls and their parents engaged with professional women to learn about career opportunities.
The PrecisCx team included President Kari Anne Donovan, PE, CxA; Operations Lead Pam Biasi; Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV) Engineers Lauren Kachnycz and Ruchi Patel; and CQV Administrator Adriennie Clayton. They manned an exhibit titled 'Trials and Trebuchets' that demonstrated the fundamentals of potential and kinetic energy.
"Seeing the smiles on the girls' faces as they launched their projectiles was a highlight of the day," said Donovan. "It's so important both to serve as positive role models and to show girls that STEM careers can be fun and exciting."
GETT began in Chester County, Pa., in 2001 as a response to the under-representation of young women in the computer and information technology fields. Since then, GETT has expanded its reach to expose students from around Southeastern Pennsylvania to additional STEM fields. GETT is an initiative of the Innovative Technology Action Group (ITAG), a program under the Chester County Economic Development Council. For more information, visit https://gettpa.org.
