PrecisCx President Kari Anne Donovan, PE, CxA, guest lectured at the Penn State University Architectural Engineering Program at University Park, Pa., on 17 January 2024. Invited to speak by Assistant Professor Yuqing Hu, Donovan presented “Partners in Construction” about the interrelationships between design and construction teammates.

“I’ve been guest lecturing for this course since 2017,” explained Donovan. “I look forward each year to encouraging emerging construction managers to collaborate with project team members and build professional relationships, while giving them an introduction to the commissioning process.”

In the lecture, Donovan explains the three-legged stool relationship between owner, architect/engineer, and construction manager; describes the different project design phases, delivery methods, and contract types; and talks about fees and value engineering. She emphasizes positive relationships and the value of reputation throughout.
